The North Runway in Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait is being repaired as part of the Repair of North Runway 12L-30R project, which is a design-build contract. Repairs will include removing and rebuilding the concrete keel portion of the end pavement of runway 30R. Also, the south asphalt shoulder of the runway 30R PCC end pavement will be taken out and replaced. The 12L-30R runway asphalt portion needed to be milled and overlaid by AGCO. When the milling was finished and before fresh asphalt was laid, our crew had to patch any cracks in the asphalt section 12L-30R pavement area. Also, all of the concrete from 12L to 30R's joint sealant had to be taken out and replaced as part of the project. In a full depth section 12L-30R, the concrete spall was restored. Section 12L-30R, partial depth repair for concrete spalls. Moreover, Runway 12L-30R's temporary and permanent marking and striping were completed by AGCO.
For the project, AGCO had to work with the Ali Al Salem Airport Management (BE), US Army Corps of Engineers Contracting Officer Representative (COR), and US Army Corps of Engineers Resident Engineer (RE).
